As part of our continued commitment to innovation we work in partnership with Knauf to offer Spray Applied Readymix Plasters. The benefits of using these Ready Mixed Plasters are endless and that is why Sharpfibre are able to deliver the best results for our clients.

Spray Applied Readymix Plasters are a fresh boost from traditional plasters in regards to the art of finishing walls and ceilings. They are also a fantastic solution for modern buildings as they are fast, economical and clean to apply. The Ready Mixed Plaster finish is so good, in some cases it looks like the surface has already been painted.

One such example of this is the newly refurbished Iceni House in Essex, a residential refurbishment project where over 4,000m² of Knauf readymix plaster was applied to internal partitions.  This application resulted in a quicker build programme and a commercial saving of 10% on the decorating costs.

There are 4 different types of Ready Mixed Plasters that we use, each are made up of crushed and milled marble (which is a waste material) with added polymer and organic binders. The main types are:

1. Knauf Airless Backing: semi lightweight product, excellent surface finish ready for decoration.

2. Knauf Airless DuraDeco: hard wearing, 2 coat surface for high impact areas.

3. Knauf Airless Finish: durable plaster for a smooth finish ready for decoration.

4. Knauf Airless Primer Surfacer: hard wearing durable primer, high standard of finish.

Each product is flexible, so less likely to crack during building subsidence, unlike traditional plaster skim coats. They are moisture resistant so perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, gyms, swimming pools and changing rooms.

Why do we use and trust Airless Readymix Plasters at Sharpfibre?

1. Fast, easy and clean to apply

2. Excellent finish

3. Large range of direct-apply substrates:

- Plasterboards

- Composite boards

- Concrete

- Aircrete

- Lime cements and plasters

- Refurbishment

4. No primers or bonding agents necessary

5. Environmentally friendly and health & safety impact

6. Reduces remedial costs and time delays

One of the biggest benefits to Readymix Plasters, as mentioned above, is they provide rapid, cost effective alternatives to traditional plasters for walls and ceilings. It has been reported that around 1,000m2 can be covered within a week by 3 workers as the process of application it so efficient. Drying takes between 24 and 48 hours which is when the finished surfaces can be decorated.

In addition to the products speed, they are also highly economical, extremely durable and not forgetting, environmentally friendly. During application, any material which is trowelled off the surface can be reapplied, which means they are low in waste. They are all water-based products that are non-hazardous to a person’s health or the environment, they also won’t react with substrates like sand-cement renders and lime plasters. As they are supplied pre-mixed to the correct consistency for spray application, no direct water supply is required on site, meaning wastage is less than 1%.
